Building the Shredder Basic Machine V1

Shredder Basic Full Assembly

Required Tools

To complete this build you will need the following tools:

Adjustable Spanner/Wrench

Metric Allen Keys

Rubber Mallet

Circlip Plier

Step 1

In this section, we will be connecting the shaft to the motor. We don’t ship with this attached as it’s very easily damaged in transport.

Your motor and gearbox should be orientated like this. If it is not, please contact us.

Note: Please lay the motor down like this, as the following steps assume this orientation.

Step 2

If you haven’t already, remove the plastic covers from both sides of the gearbox.

Step 3

Taking the 2 shorter keyways (provided with the shaft), press them into the little slots. These should be well pressed in and can be hammered lightly with a rubber mallet to ensure this.

Step 4

With these fully pressed down, slide the shaft into the gearbox. Aligning the keyway with the gearbox as shown.

if the keyway is fully pressed down this should slide in easily. Avoid where possible hammering the shaft with the rubber mallet until the first keyway is almost totally inside the gearbox.

Step 5

Hammer the shaft until the rim is firmly pressed to the gearbox.

Only use a rubber mallet for this. Using a metal hammer will break the shaft.

Step 6

With the shaft fully inserted, rotate the motor and gearbox to the other side. The shaft should be poking through by about 5-10mm.

Place the thin washer that came with the shaft.

Step 7

Then with the Circlip Plier and locking ring, place the ring, so that its seated in the groove on the shaft. Locking the shaft in place.

Step 8

Now flip the motor back over and press in the long keyway as shown.

Step 9

Now using the HRC 130H Coupling, place the 1610-28 Tapered Bushing inside the Coupling as shown.

Step 10

Then using the Grub Screws that came with the tapered Bushing, insert them as shown and tighten them up by hand as much as you can.

Step 11

Now slide the coupling onto the shaft, and use an Allen key to tighten up the grub screws. For now, they don’t need to be super tight.

Now repeat Steps 8-11 for the Coupling that attaches to the Assembled Shredder Box but use 1610-30 instead and the smaller 8mm x 7mm x 35mm Steel Keyway.

Step 12

Finally, place the HRC 130 Rubber (Starfish) into one of the couplings.

Step 13

Right now you probably haven’t built the frame (Next page, but we wanted to show you how these couplings will go together on the final build.
